miska laboratory about us

the group
We are studying the roles of small regulatory RNA, such as miRNAs, siRNAs and piRNAs, in the control of gene expression (find more about our research here).

Our laboratory was established in 2005 at the Gurdon Institute at the University of Cambridge. We are located in the new Henry Wellcome Building of Cancer and Developmental Biology. We are also associated with the Department of Biochemistry and part of the University of Cambridge. We are actively participating in the wider Cambridge scientific community, which includes the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and others.

Our laboratory is located in the heart of the medieval city of Cambridge, 50 miles northeast of London. The first scholars arrived in Cambridge as exiles from Oxford in the year 1209 and in 1326 the Bishop of Ely established the first College in Cambridge, Peterhouse. Somewhat more recently, the Gurdon Institute was founded in 1989. A direct train gets you from Cambridge into the centre of London within 45 minutes. London Stansted Airport, with its cheap airfares to many destination in Europe, is only 35 minutes away.
