European Researchers' Night at the Natural History Museum

The Gurdon Institute takes part in the annual, Europe-wide festival to celebrate science, hosted in London by the Natural History Museum

This event at the Natural History Museum is targeted at adults, with a timing of 5pm-10pm on a Friday evening in September.  As many as 30,000 visitors will pass through the whole event.

At the request of the Wellcome Trust we took our travelling microscopes to London for this busy event alongside 200 other activities. Our researchers discussed how cells organise themselves within a tissue and what happens when this process goes wrong. Specimens for microscopy included many different types of cells.

2013: 'Science Uncovered'

Our stand was titled 'Ask me about how cells divide', and was run with six volunteers.
